Camping de Paris

We want to experience city camping in Paris. And starting from the site, explore Paris and the sights that are important to us and manageable in a week. Mostly on foot and with our handcart, which became the most important utensil for our excursions. For this, we need a pitch for our caravan located directly at the Bois de Boulogne on the banks of the Seine. I remember Camping de Paris as a simple site that reduced the cost of a stay in Paris to pocket-money levels. But that was in the 1980s...

Reception Paris

The site is large. Really large. It mainly offers space for motorhomes and caravans. While 'pocket money' is no longer sufficient for the current prices, they are completely reasonable. For the distance to the city center (Place Charles de Gaulle, Arc de Triomphe), you need about 20 minutes by car or shuttle bus—depending on traffic. The shuttle bus starts 'at the doorstep' and goes to Porte Maillot, where you can change to the metro. We found a gas station with tolerable prices on the other side of the Seine in Suresnes.

Sanitary facilities

The sanitary facilities are good, clean, and available in multiple locations, as the site is very long. This applies to the showers, the sinks, and even the disposal point for the chemical toilet and grey water. Every pitch from a certain category upwards has its own electrical connection, private fresh water, and grey water drain. The site is located between the Seine and the Bois de Boulogne. Nevertheless, it is surprisingly quiet. We heard nothing from the road that passes right by. The service staff are very friendly and helpful, and the small supermarket has everything needed—including wine and beer. The prices are not overpriced, as we have experienced elsewhere. And breakfast is good in the restaurant right next door, on the terrace... or, of course, "at home" in the caravan.

Opportunities
Opportunities

Unlimited. Paris is practically at your feet. Which means of transport should be used to explore the city is ultimately irrelevant. Even though we saw cyclists weaving through traffic, we consider this option... brave for foreigners who are not really familiar with the local habits.

Conclusion
Our Recommendation (as of 2023)

The campsite is ideal for city camping with a camper or caravan. Equipment, service, and hygiene are very good. There are no language problems. If something doesn't fit, it's taken care of immediately without discussion. Highly recommended.
